A pair of Navy helicopters did an unauthorized flyover of the Packers Steelers game on Thursday. Freaked out our local law enforcement since they were told there would be no flyover.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

There are military drills in our area for the next week or so. I’m willing to bet someone had the bright idea to check out the game while in town. I wonder if this will cause any discipline for those pilots. A trio of these choppers just flew over my house, so at least some of them still have their wings.

(I’m sure this is a slap on the wrist situation anyway)

I would bet that it is very much more than a slap on the wrist. There could be serious consequences.

There will either be serious repercussions, or a slap on the wrist, depending on if Dotard McBonespurs tweets approval or rage.

I can’t imagine these pilots did this without their commander’s knowledge that they were in the air. In others words, they didn’t just take the choppers on a joy ride.  I'm guessing they deviated a bit from their training area for a peek at the game.  I wonder if a temporary no fly zone applies to military craft?

Can make some comparison with these T-38 pilots who were supposed to do a flyover, but did it much lower than permitted: Air Force pilots in Ohio State-Iowa flyover flap punished .

Sounds like the lead pilot took most of the blame there (he left the Air Force). The other pilots were disciplined, but it seems that neither their names, nor what penalties the faced were made public, which suggests the Air Force intended it to be a fairly light penalty.
